Steamers with butter dripping down the face eaten at an outdoor table overlooking the ocean. Watching my son learn how to swim when he was an infant, and watching how courageously and competently he navigates the ocean today as a teen-ager. Creamy, frozen custard in a cone at the boardwalk. A plate full of Coconut Shrimp as part of Charlie Brown’s Steakhouse Shrimpfest and sharing with my family because I have plenty on my plate to share! (And sometimes even a few left over to enjoy the next day). Not having to do homework or nagging my son to do his! Having a picnic at the beach or park, and eating outdoors. Celebrating my anniversary and my wife’s birthday as the first marks the beginning of summer for me and the latter marks the end as it falls during the week of Labor day. I love being a lifelong resident of New Jersey in part because we have such defined seasons, and such glorious summers. Happy and Healthy Labor Day to everyone!!

So guess where I’m taking my family? To a restaurant that’s first rate!

Charlie Brown’s Steakhouse is the place of choice to go, and I can’t wait to savor my favorite Shrimpfest, with coconut shrimp galore.
My husband is likely to get steak and my son who loves everything will ask if he can order more.

At the table we will reflect on the summer that’s coming to an end.
We treasure the warm months for sharing barbeques with friends.

The Jersey Shore always calls us to beckon to the beach,
With pail and shovel in hand, fun is never out of reach.

Trips to Great Adventure are exciting, and even though close to home,
There’s so much to do in New Jersey, residents really don’t need to roam.

So though Autumn is just around the bend, and the colored leaves will fall,
Right now it’s still warm and sunny right now, so let’s still enjoy it all!

Icy cold watermelon, corn on the cob, it’s Labor Day Weekend, so let’s have some fun,
Add to that dinner out, and how can we not have a ton!

I got to see my mom, dad, grandparents, and my puppy who licked my face off when I came home. My mom made me a giant homemade meal with all my favorites my first night back. But the next night she said I could pick any restaurant I wanted in order to celebrate my returning home and all of the successes I had this summer. It was a no-brainer. I immediately asked “Can we go to Charlie Brown’s?” My mom smiled (because it’s her favorite restaurant too) and said “sure”. But when she told me I made it home in time for Shrimpfest, I had an even BIGGER smile. My two favorite foods are steak and shrimp so when Charlie Brown’s doesn’t have Shrimpfest, I will order a big steak, but when it’s on the menu, I convince someone else in my family to order steak, while I order the shrimp, and then I get the best of both worlds by suggesting we all share! (My mom didn’t raise a dummy ..) I really hope I will get to go back again very soon!
