On my 30th bday as I walked out if the restrooms during dinner with my whole family I see all the servers congregating near the back with a bday cake and I just remember telling my family NOT to have them sing or bring anything out (I always hated that stuff lol) do as I walked by I said under my breathe…geez, I hate this…thank goodness that’s not for me…and of course they’re all whispering to each other and telling each other to shut it. I didn’t think anything about it but of course that cake and bday was for me….very embarrassing.

My favorite summer memory is when my brother decided to surprise my parents with a visit, his daughters just happened to drop by at the same time, and then my sisters and their families just all happened to stop by all with-in the same half hour. There we all were. My sisters, my brother, both my parents and all our kids. Joking, laughing, eating, and having the BEST time ever… TOTALLY unplanned.
My dad is gone now, but I will never forget, the smiles on his face, and how happy & proud, both my parents were, surrounded by their kids and grandkids on that one perfect, summer day.

115 words of a family blessed.

The one get together I was looking forward to this Summer, was a dinner gathering at my friend Marcie’s home. As far as the menu goes, I was expecting to be served crab cakes, Caesar salad, and New York strip steak. Instead, we were served popcorn, jellybeans, and toast. Upset by this display, I picked myself up, and, along with my friend Franklin, headed over to Charlie Brown’s. While there, we found these great dinner items, and so much more! I give thanks to Charlie Brown’s for making this Summer quite memorable.

My fondest summer memory was spending the day at Monmouth Park on Labor Day weekend, closing out the racetrack season. Then, our family would go out to dinner with my Dad in celebration of his birthday on September 3. We lost my beloved father 10 years ago, and our new tradition is to have a mass for him in the morning, visit him with flowers, and have a quiet dinner…and Charlie Brown’s is our usual destination. My father died in the same month that Charles Schultz died and my father loved “Charlie Brown”.

I turned 80 this summer and I was thrilled when my son,daughter-in-law, and their 4 little guys ages 2,4,7,and 9, came down to NJ from Connecticut to celebrate my birthday at my favorite restaurant– Charlie Brown’s in Scotch Plains,NJ. Our pretty young waitress was wonderful with the boys and it was just a perfect day.

My favorite memory of the summer is the week my Daughter, son-in-law and my grandchildren came for a weekend visit. We camped in my small condo with wall-to-wall inflatable mattresses and anticipated the multitude of fun activities the shore offered. But how do you keep this hungry crew fed? Not to mention fitting around a cramped dining table.
It didn’t take long to come up with a fabulous solution. My favorite restaurant, Charlie Brown’s Steakhouse, was the answer. Great food like the Farmer’s Market Salad Bar, Classic USDA steaks, Hickory Bourbon Chicken and shrimps to die for would satisfy everyone’s taste. Plus, we would dine in comfort without a single dish to wash!
I figured we could gain the equivalent of another day of fun in saved time, and my family would be rescued from my cooking!

My favorite summer memory goes back to childhood and took place each year on the last day of school at Brooklyn’s P.S. 282. The annual ritual involved the students being permitted to bring favorite board games to class for a full day of fun simply playing and competing with everyone prior to leaving for summer vacation. I looked forward to this congenial day of frivolity minus tests, quizzes, studying and homework for weeks. I spent a good deal of time deciding which of my games I would annoint the “winner” each year, the one to join me in this special farewell to the school year. Of course, half the fun was trying new games brought by others and the other half was showing off my superior skills with the ones at which I (presumably!) excelled. This special day gave students and teachers alike to relax, let loose and be together one last time and see each other in a whole new light!

My best summer memory. Was a waiter at a summer camp. Family would visit on weekends. One of the children in my unit had a single parent who visited. It was my Mrs. Robinson summer. I am now much much older, think of those tender moments, smile and wish it could happen again.

I think my favorite summer memories revolve around going to the beach as a boy. My mother would pack picnic baskets with fresh tomatoes, hard-boiled eggs, ripe juicy peaches, home-made potato salad and pickles. My dad would make the iced tea and pack it into an old metal Coleman cooler with sprigs of mint, and then load up a little Hibachi grill and the charcoal for grilling.

The best times were after Labor Day, when the Summer crowds had gone and we had more time and space to explore under rocks, dive into the warm waves, and dig in the hot sand. When we were thirsty and hungry Dad would start up the grill and cook hot dogs and hamburgers on it. Mom would dole out all the fixin’s.

Late summer at the beach with your family. The water is perfect. The smell of charcoal smoke and the ocean. The sun is setting and sending out golden rays across the sky as it sets behind you in the West. Laying on a towel and just listening to the sand and the waves and the gulls. Perfection.

Today, when we leave the beach we let the experts at Charlie Brown’s fill us up! Between the Farmer’s Market Salad Bar, Charlie’s Classic Steaks, and the great selection of beers on tap we never come away empty and we always leave happy!

My best summer time memory is when my husband use to take me to Charlie Brown’s Steakhouse for my birthday every July. Except for the past two because he died. I have not been there sense 2008. But I really enjoyed have a wonderful Queen cut and the Farmer’s Market Salad Bar. My parents have told me it has gotten better with all the new salads. I hope I can try it soon.

Since I moved to New Jersey with my lovely bride back in 1984, Charlie Brown’s Steakhouse has many times been a place for celebration. From birthday’s (the great Handshake Club offer!) to relaxing after buying our first house to mini family reunions, we have eaten many a Charlie’s Classic Steak. Recently though, my daughter Kelly was working as a waitress at our local CB’s. It was Shrimpfest time and we thought to challenge a dining favorite with the ultimate test – my Mom. She is 86 and can now be quite critical (though hasn’t she always been???!). From Nunzi’s greeting, to the service from Kelly (of course OUTSTANDING), to the Farmer’s Market Salad Bar to the meal served hot and just as ordered, I could not believe my Mom’s reaction. It was – drumroll please – ALL GREAT! She had a big smile throughout and she still mentions today the wonderful experience with phrases such as “How can they do it?” and “They give so much food that I can have a second meal!” Kudos to you Charlie Brown’s for many years of great service and amazing food.

Hot, humid, sunny – ah, Orlando in August. As a treat for my immediate family, I invited my 87 yr old mother to join us in Orlando for a mini family reunion. My mother, my husband, my children and grandchildren all gathered together: 4 generations, and we had a blast. My mom flew in from Detroit, we from NJ and others from Florida; it was kids everywhere, swimming, miniature golf, playgrounds, dinners out, dinners in, all of us together for the 1st time in years. The only downside was not having a Charlie Brown’s in Florida.
We shared four generations of memories and made new ones for the generations to come.

My best summer memory this year at Charlie Browns was actually Easter Sunday. It was my first Easter without my daughter….she moved to Alaska to be with her husband who is in the service. So naturally Easter wouldn’t be the same ,so I took my 80 yr old mom out and we were the first customers there that morning!
It was awesome…it was like the place opened up just for me and mom….since we are Italian, us women usually do the big cooking for the holidays…now that our family is further away…we decided to treat ourselves to a great Easter Dinner and we did! It was so nice to have someone else do the cooking and it to be as good as a meal from home.
Instead of it being a sad holiday….Charlie Brown’s made it very nice….thank you!!!

My best memory this summer just happened a couple of days ago at a Charlie Brown’s steak house. It was late in the evening when we arrived and there was no wait…as we were walking in to be seated, out comes two friends that we had lost touch with for about four years. We all stopped and gasped.. We then went and sat in the waiting area to catch up and to see what oen another have been doing for all these years. SInce then, we have reconnected and are a part of eachothers lives, thanks to Charlie Brown’s! We have reconnected with some dear friends.

I was in Italy, passing by the Trevi Fountains, when everyone started yelling and pointing wildly. I may not speak the language, but pointing and screaming is universal for “LOOK OVER THERE!” The source of the trouble was a rat, and not a small one either. Luckily I captured it on camera, albeit only the tail and hind leg. Strange thing about Italy, after a week or so of delicious Italian food, I wanted one meal of nice American food, like at Charlie Brown’s! Go figure.

My husband and I are both fans of Charlie Brown’s Steakhouse for many years. Good food, good service, good prices, what else can one ask for. Keep up the good work CB and continue with all good food and service and I am sure, you will be everyone’s favorite place to enjoy many celebrations.Thank you Charlie Browns.

  26. I have two favorite summer memories this year — standing in the pool at their complex with my son David, his wife Michele and his kids Riley and Noah, singing the songs I used to sing to my sons in the pool — and my trip to Maine with my husband Donald, where I ate my weight in lobster and blueberries and we fed our souls with the gorgeous coastline from Camden to Ogunquit — rocks and water and a feeling of serenity. As for the lobster part — I’d love to see my favorite Charlie Brown’s Steakhouse in Millburn NJ have an endless lobsterfest with really good prices and Lazy Man Lobster (where they do all the work) and hot lobster rolls — yum and yum! Throw in some blueberry crumb pie and my mouth is very happy (though the scale would not be happy at all!).

My favorite summer memory is the summer 25 years ago when my wife and I got married. We had very little money and it was her 2nd marriage so we were doing the whole deal on our own. We got a wedding cake from Peter’s Bakery in Maplewood, and we made the wedding punch with red grape juice, passion fruit juice, lemonade and something sparkly, can’t remember what. We had the reception in the church so we couldn’t have a band or dancing, and I was mortified that people would think we were “cheap” for not providing dinner — we just couldn’t afford it. So what we did was — we went to Charlie Brown’s in West Orange (no longer there) and whatever guests wanted to go with us, came along. We were given a room and exceptional service and good food, and we laughed and had as good a time as we would have had at an expensive receptiion dinner. Thank you, Charlie Brown’s, for helping to make that day work — and thank you, Honey, for the 1st 25 years!

My best memory has to be the other day my husband and I was bored so we took a long ride to north Jersey. Once up there we decided to create out own “Soprano’s tour” We went eveywhere Soprano’s. We saw Tony’s house, dropped by Pizzaland and the Bada Bing and had ice cream at Holstens when the series ended. We even sat at THE booth. By the time we got to our home town there was nothing open to grab a bite except for MY Charlie Brown’s. We were the last customer of the night. Still soaking wet but were we needed to be. Good Food, Good Company, I was like the staff at the Toms River location was waiting for us. Yum Yum!!!!!

The memories of summer only last for a while until the forthcoming year, but we live in an area where we need to enjoy every second of the short summer season. The most memorable experience in the Summer of 2010 was to see how clean the beaches of New Jersey have become. I felt as if I was in one of the southern states, where I was able to see my feet. The sandbar at Ocean Grove added a childlike experience since it seemed I was able to walk for miles. Even though I grew up in Jersey, this was the one of the few times that I got to experience the awesomeness of the ocean on this side of the world. The cleanliness and friendly people with their families brought me back twenty years as to when my parents used to take me “down the shore”. This is one memory where I would like to share with my future children; a place where all the worries of the world vanish with the salty wind in the air. The only thing missing from all this was a local Charlie Brown’s Steakhouse to enjoy the Salad Bar.

My favorite summer memories are being surrounded by family and friends to celebrate the summer birthdays in our family. Beginning July 4th with my husband my daughter and father in August. My dad sadly passed away shortly before his 81st this year and we will miss him. I treated my husband to a post birthday dinner at Charlie Browns in Blackwood NJ this year. Coincedently, the Shrimpfest was featured and we thoroughly enjoyed a quiet dinner after a hectic week. The Farmers Market salad bar was the perfect compliment to lots of shrimp! Dinners out with friends are the best times and usualy happen at Charlie Browns.

My favorite summer memory was from when I was a kid. Summer was endless and every day the snow cone man would come by and it was a special treat to get one. All he had was a huge block of ice and an ice shaver and many different flavors of syrup. I have looked for years for a metal ice shaver at antique markets and haven’t been able to find one. Life was simple without a lot of TV a good book was often at hand. We spent many happy days at the beach, pool, and lake. My father would go fishing and bring home trash cans full of fish. He brought home cod, tuna, blue fish, flounder, and many other kinds of fish. The crabs we ate were always caught fresh by us. Seafood and fresh caught fish were a big part of summer. That is why I enjoy Seafood Fest so much.

To be very short my favorite memory of summer is from 1954 when I met my wife at the beach at Coney Island. Our all time favorite meals are at the Toms River, NJ Charlie Brown is the ‘shrimp-fest’ where we always order ALL Coconut shrimp. We have never been disappointed with the meal.

I’ve been away at several camps all summer, so returning home this week was a treat.
I got to see my mom, dad, grandparents, and my puppy who licked my face off when I came home. My mom made me a giant homemade meal with all my favorites my first night back. But the next night she said I could pick any restaurant I wanted in order to celebrate my returning home and all of the successes I had this summer. It was a no-brainer. I immediately asked “Can we go to Charlie Brown’s?” My mom smiled (because it’s her favorite restaurant too) and said “sure”. But when she told me I made it home in time for Shrimpfest, I had an even BIGGER smile. My two favorite foods are steak and shrimp so when Charlie Brown’s doesn’t have Shrimpfest, I will order a big steak, but when it’s on the menu, I convince someone else in my family to order steak, while I order the shrimp, and then I get the best of both worlds by suggesting we all share! (My mom didn’t raise a dummy ..) I really hope I will get to go back again very soon!

September 1st is my birthday and I wish to celebrate somewhere really great
So guess where I’m taking my family? To a restaurant that’s first rate!

Charlie Brown’s Steakhouse is the place of choice to go, and I can’t wait to savor my favorite Shrimpfest, with coconut shrimp galore.
My husband is likely to get steak and my son who loves everything will ask if he can order more.

At the table we will reflect on the summer that’s coming to an end.
We treasure the warm months for sharing barbeques with friends.

The Jersey Shore always calls us to beckon to the beach,
With pail and shovel in hand, fun is never out of reach.

Trips to Great Adventure are exciting, and even though close to home,
There’s so much to do in New Jersey, residents really don’t need to roam.

So though Autumn is just around the bend, and the colored leaves will fall,
Right now it’s still warm and sunny right now, so let’s still enjoy it all!

Icy cold watermelon, corn on the cob, it’s Labor Day Weekend, so let’s have some fun,
Add to that dinner out, and how can we not have a ton!

    Happiest Summer Memories:
Steamers with butter dripping down the face eaten at an outdoor table overlooking the ocean. Watching my son learn how to swim when he was an infant, and watching how courageously and competently he navigates the ocean today as a teen-ager. Creamy, frozen custard in a cone at the boardwalk. A plate full of Coconut Shrimp as part of Charlie Brown’s Steakhouse Shrimpfest and sharing with my family because I have plenty on my plate to share! (And sometimes even a few left over to enjoy the next day). Not having to do homework or nagging my son to do his! Having a picnic at the beach or park, and eating outdoors. Celebrating my anniversary and my wife’s birthday as the first marks the beginning of summer for me and the latter marks the end as it falls during the week of Labor day. I love being a lifelong resident of New Jersey in part because we have such defined seasons, and such glorious summers. Happy and Healthy Labor Day to everyone!!
